Gifts for Every Age!

One of the most overlooked age groups in our Toy Run donations is older children and teens, ages 11-17. While the holiday spirit often brings in a wide range of toys for younger children, less than 5% of our donations are specifically for this older age group. Many people simply aren’t sure what kinds of gifts to choose for preteens and teens, so these kids often miss out on items they would truly enjoy and benefit from. That’s where you come in! With a little thought and the right suggestions, you can help ensure that every age group receives a gift that brings joy and makes their holiday special.

Here are some suggestions for each age range, keeping in mind interests and needs that go beyond toys and are great for young people as they grow. Importantly, we ask that donations be free from stuffed animals to avoid any potential allergy concerns.”

Allergy Awareness: Avoid Stuffed Toys

While stuffed toys are often a popular choice, it’s important to be mindful of allergies. Stuffed toys can harbor dust mites and allergens, posing potential risks for children and teenagers with allergies. Instead, opt for toys that are safe and inclusive for all, ensuring that no child is left out due to health concerns. Items made from hypoallergenic materials or those that are easy to clean are fantastic alternatives.

By considering these age-appropriate gifts, you’ll be giving something that not only makes the holidays brighter but also fits each recipient’s interests and needs. Your thoughtful gift can go a long way in making sure every child, regardless of age, feels included and valued during the holiday season.
