Join us for the South Florida Presidents Council’s Toys in the Sun Run by donating just $20 per biker and $10 for an accompanying passenger, along with one unwrapped toy each. Not only will you be making a huge difference in the lives of the kids at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, but you’ll also get to be part of the biggest biker party of the year! With beer, food, live music, and tons of vendors selling all the gear you love, it’s a day you won’t want to miss. Plus, Santa himself will be there to spread some holiday cheer!
Your entry fee and toy donation go a long way to help these kids while you enjoy an unforgettable day with your fellow riders. Thousands of bikers come together for this event every year, and the energy is electric. So, roll up, bring your friends, and join us for an epic ride and an even better party, all while supporting a fantastic cause. Let’s show everyone how bikers come together to make a difference!

HISTORY OF THE TOY RUN

Back before 1987, the SE Chapter of ABATE was already pulling together one of the biggest toy runs around. Bikers and lovers of motorcycles, from all over rolling in to help kids in need. A few smaller groups were doing their own toy drives, but the biker community saw an opportunity to unite. That’s when an agreement came together inside ABATE to back Bob Amchir in bringing everyone under one banner, and that’s how the Mother of All Toy Runs was born.

THE FIRST TOYS IN THE SUN RUN RIDE: 1987

In 1987, the very first Toys in the Sun Run kicked off. Back then, everyone, from Veterans to Police, Motorcycle Clubs to Kiwanis, was doing toy drives. But Bob Amchir, then President of the Wings of Gold Motorcycle Club, said, “Let’s ride together and make it one massive toy run!”

That first year brought in $965 in cash and over 500 toys, with around 700 motorcycles showing up to ride. It was the start of something legendary.

GROWING INTO A SOUTH FLORIDA TRADITION

Since that first ride, the Toy Run has exploded into one of the largest organized charity motorcycle events in the world. It now takes the combined effort of over 32 motorcycle clubs and organizations to make it happen.
Every year, over 30,000 motorcycles hit the road, escorted by 230 law enforcement officers from 22 police departments across South Florida. More than 200 motor officers, plus cars and PSA personnel, shut down three interstate highways to make way for our thunder.

Sheriff Al Lamberti and the Broward County Sheriff’s Office have long coordinated with all departments to keep the parade safe, this ride is even bigger than the annual boat parade!
Back then, the Toy Run kicked off from the Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach, rolling nearly 20 miles deep to Markham Park in Broward County. The full motorcade stretches for hours, about three solid hours just to get every bike to the finish line.

THE FESTIVAL FOR A CAUSE

Once the parade rolls in, the fun keeps going strong. We’ve got rides for the kids, face painting, a full food court, and over 100 vendors selling everything from leather and boots to jewelry, sunglasses, and more. Add in the huge bike show, live entertainment, and good vibes all day, and you’ve got a biker event like no other.

GIVING BACK: THE HEART OF IT ALL

Since day one, the SFPC Toys in the Sun Run has raised over $20 million in toys, distributed by the Fraternal Order of Police to kids in four counties. On top of that, we’ve raised over $11.5 million in donations, all from bikers who give just $10 and a new unwrapped toy to ride.

Our biggest partner through it all has been the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation, helping kids right here in South Florida. The Pediatric Trauma Center at Memorial and the free-standing Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood were built in honor of the motorcyclists who make this event possible every year.

BEYOND THE TOYS

Over the past 25+ years, the Toy Run has done far more than deliver toys. We’ve donated over $200,000 to COPS Kids (Concerns of Police Survivors), plus major contributions to Shott Memorial, Boys & Girls Clubs ($124,000 last year alone), Cystic Fibrosis, Juvenile Diabetes, Cancer research, and Prenatal programs.

This run doesn’t just help kids, it lifts up families and our whole community. It’s a testament to the heart, loyalty, and grit of the biker brotherhood and sisterhood.

THE ROAD THROUGH HARD TIMES

Then came COVID, and everything changed. The lockdowns, county restrictions, and sponsor pullbacks hit hard, draining the Toy Run’s seed money. But the SFPC refused to let it die. The biker community regrouped, tightened up, and kept the Toy Run alive — smaller, yes, but still rolling.

A huge shout-out goes to Ryan Case of Rick Case Honda, who continued to back us year after year, keeping this tradition on life support until it could roar again. And now, thanks to the Seminole Hard Rock, who stepped up to sponsor the talent for this year’s party, the escorted run is BACK after five long years!

DECEMBER 2025: THE RETURN OF S. FL THUNDER!

In 2025, the spirit of the South Florida biker community is roaring back louder than ever. We’re riding for the kids of Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, for the community, and for the legacy that’s been 38 years in the making.
Spread the word, tell your crew, your club, and your family. Let’s bring back the glory days — or make them even better.

See you Sunday, December 7, 2025, for the South Florida President’s Council Toys in the Sun Run. LET’S MAKE SOME NOISE FOR THE KIDS, AND RIDE FOR A CAUSE THAT MATTERS.
